Manure from wet waste in all 369 wards of Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Units to produce manure from wet waste will be established across 369 wards of the five municipal corporations under the GBA (Greater Bengaluru Area) limits, announced A.N. Nataraj, Chairman of the Karnataka Compost Development Corporation (KCDC), during a press conference on Tuesday.

"If Bengaluru citizens segregate wet and dry waste, it will help maintain city cleanliness and support manure production. We intend to set up units in every ward to process wet waste into compost. This does not require much space and will be established in available areas," he said.

Purchase of Manure:

A plan is being formulated to reduce the burden of waste transportation by installing waste processing units in major commercial complexes and residential apartments. Just as rainwater harvesting was made mandatory, there are thoughts on making the installation of wet waste composting units compulsory. Nataraj stated that the KCDC would purchase the manure produced in these locations.

Green Manure in Parks:

"Compost pits" will be set up in the city's large parks to convert fallen leaves and wet waste into manure. After using the required amount for the park itself, the surplus will be sold.

Odor Control:

New scientific measures have been implemented to control odors so that residents living near processing units are not inconvenienced. By adopting modern technology and scientific methods, manure production will be increased. A special campaign will be launched to deliver manure to farmers in a timely manner through 'Raitha Samparka Kendras' (Farmer Liaison Centers).

‘Zero Waste City’

"KCDC has formulated new plans to make Bengaluru a Zero Waste City. Proposals have been submitted to the Urban Development Department and Greater Bengaluru authorities. Once approved, the plan is for KCDC to convert all of the approximately 1,500 tonnes of wet waste generated daily in the city into manure," the Chairman explained.

He added that modern technology is being adopted to quickly convert daily wet waste into compost, with cooperation from various NGOs.

5,000 Tonnes of Manure Sold

A.N. Nataraj also shared that 5,000 tonnes of manure stocked in six KCDC units were sold to farmers across various districts at subsidized rates within the last two months.

"The price for manure produced from wet waste was fixed at ₹3,600 per tonne. However, after obtaining government permission, it was sold to farmers at ₹2,000 per tonne," he said.

"Using compost made from wet waste increases soil fertility and results in better crops. The Corporation’s goal is to ensure farmers get manure on time and achieve better yields," he concluded.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು: ಜಿಬಿಎ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯ ಐದು ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳ 369 ವಾರ್ಡ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹಸಿ ಕಸದಿಂದ ಗೊಬ್ಬರ ತಯಾರಿಸುವ ಘಟಕಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಕಾಂಪೋಸ್ಟ್ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ದಿ ನಿಗಮದ (ಕೆಸಿಡಿಸಿ) ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಎ.ಎನ್‌. ನಟರಾಜ್‌ ಅವರು ಪತ್ರಿಕಾಗೋಷ್ಠಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂಗಳವಾರ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

 ‘ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ನಗರದ ನಾಗರಿಕರು ಹಸಿ ಕಸ, ಒಣಕಸ ವಿಂಗಡನೆ ಮಾಡುವುದರಿಂದ ನಗರ ಸ್ವಚ್ಚತೆ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಗೊಬ್ಬರ ತಯಾರಿಕೆಗೆ ಸಹಕಾರಿಯಾಗಲಿದೆ. ಘಟಕಗಳ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲ ವಾರ್ಡ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಹಸಿ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯದಿಂದ ಗೊಬ್ಬರ ತಯಾರಿಸಲು ಘಟಕ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲು ಉದ್ಧೇಶಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸ್ಥಳದ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ಲಭ್ಯವಿರುವ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲೇ ಘಟಕ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ’ ಎಂದರು.

 ಗೊಬ್ಬರ ಖರೀದಿ: 

ಪ್ರಮುಖ ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯ ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣಗಳು  ಹಾಗೂ ವಸತಿ ಸಮುಚ್ಚಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ (ಅಪಾರ್ಟ್‌ಮೆಂಟ್‌) ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ಸಂಸ್ಕರಣಾ ಘಟಕಗಳನ್ನು ಅಳವಡಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ಸಾಗಾಣಿಕೆ ಹೊರೆಯನ್ನು ತಗ್ಗಿಸಲು ಯೋಜನೆ ರೂಪಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಮಳೆ ನೀರು ಕೊಯ್ಲು ಕಡ್ಡಾಯಗೊಳಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಹಸಿ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಗೊಬ್ಬರವಾಗಿಸುವ ಘಟಕ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸುವುದನ್ನೂ ಕಡ್ಡಾಯಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಚಿಂತಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ಪಾದನೆಯಾಗುವ  ಕಸವನ್ನು ಕೆಸಿಡಿಸಿ ಖರೀದಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ನಟರಾಜ್‌ ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಉದ್ಯಾನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹಸಿರು ಗೊಬ್ಬರ: ನಗರದ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಉದ್ಯಾನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ‘ಕಾಂಪೋಸ್ಟ್ ಘಟಕ’ಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಹಸಿ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಗೊಬ್ಬರವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಪರಿವರ್ತಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಉದ್ಯಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾದಷ್ಟು ಬಳಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ಉಳಿದಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾರಾಟ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದರು.

ದುರ್ವಾಸನೆ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ: 

ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ಸಂಸ್ಕರಣಾ ಘಟಕದ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳಿಗೆ ತೊಂದರೆಯಾಗದಂತೆ ವಾಸನೆ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಸ ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಕ್ರಮಗಳು ಜಾರಿ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ.  ಆಧುನಿಕ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ , ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಕ್ರಮ ಅಳವಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿ, ಗೊಬ್ಬರ ತಯಾರಿಕೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಮಾಡುವುದು. ರೈತರಿಗೆ ಸಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಗೊಬ್ಬರ ತಲುಪಿಸಲು ರೈತ ಸಂಪರ್ಕ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಮೂಲಕ ಗೊಬ್ಬರ ತಲುಪಿಸುವ ವಿಶೇಷ ಅಭಿಯಾನ ಮೂಲಕ ತಲುಪಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

 

‘ಶೂನ್ಯ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ನಗರ’

‘ಬೆಂಗಳೂರನ್ನು ಶೂನ್ಯ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ನಗರವನ್ನಾಗಿಸಲು ಕೆಸಿಡಿಸಿ ಹೊಸ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸಿದೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ನಗರಾಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಗ್ರೇಟರ್‌ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾವಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಸಮ್ಮತಿ ದೊರೆತ ಕೂಡಲೇ, ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿನಿತ್ಯ ಉತ್ಪಾದನೆಯಾಗುವ ಸುಮಾರು 1,500 ಟನ್‌ ಹಸಿ ಕಸ ಉತ್ಪಾದನೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಅದೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಕೆಸಿಡಿಸಿಯಿಂದಲೇ ಗೊಬ್ಬರವನ್ನಾಗಿಸುವ ಯೋಜನೆ ಹೊಂದಲಾಗಿದೆ’ ಎಂದು ಕೆಸಿಡಿಸಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ನಟರಾಜ್‌ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

ಪ್ರತಿನಿತ್ಯ ಉತ್ಪತ್ತಿಯಾಗುವ ಹಸಿ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ತ್ವರಿತವಾಗಿ ಗೊಬ್ಬರವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಪರಿವರ್ತಿಸಲು ಆಧುನಿಕ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಅಳವಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಎನ್‌ಜಿಒಗಳ ಸಹಕಾರವನ್ನೂ ಪಡೆಯಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದರು.

 

5 ಸಾವಿರ ಗೊಬ್ಬರ ಮಾರಾಟ

ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಕಾಂಪೋಸ್ಟ್ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ದಿ ನಿಗಮದ ಆರು ಘಟಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಸ್ತಾನಿದ್ದ ಐದು ಸಾವಿರ ಟನ್‌ ಗೊಬ್ಬರವನ್ನು ವಿವಿಧ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ರೈತರಿಗೆ ಸಬ್ಸಿಡಿ ದರದಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾರಾಟ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ನಿಗಮದ ಅಧರ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಎ.ಎನ್‌. ನಟರಾಜ್‌ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

‘ಹಸಿ ಕಸದಿಂದ ತಯಾರಿಸಿದ ಗೊಬ್ಬರಕ್ಕೆ ಟನ್‌ವೊಂದಕ್ಕೆ ₹3,600 ನಿಗದಿ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಸರ್ಕಾರದಿಂದ ಅನುಮತಿ ಪಡೆದು, ರೈತರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿ ಟನ್‌ಗೆ ₹2,000ದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾರಾಟ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ’ ಎಂದರು.

 ‘ಹಸಿ ಕಸದ ಗೊಬ್ಬರ ಬಳಕೆಯಿಂದ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಫಲವತ್ತತೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ, ಉತ್ತಮ ಬೇಳೆ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ. ರೈತರಿಗೆ ಸಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಗೊಬ್ಬರ ಸಿಗಬೇಕು, ಉತ್ತಮ ಇಳುವರಿಯಾಗಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದು ನಿಗಮದ ಉದ್ದೇಶವಾಗಿದೆ’ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
