Elections for 5 City Corporations Postponed by One and a Half Months ….

BENGALURU: The State Election Commission (SEC) has extended the schedule for preparing ward-wise voter lists for the general elections of five city corporations by one and a half months.
Due to this extension, the elections for these city corporations have also been pushed back by a month and a half. If the current revised schedule proceeds without further changes, the elections are likely to be held at the end of April.
According to the previous schedule released by the SEC on October 27, 2025, the final ward-wise voter list was supposed to be published on January 29, 2026. However, while the process was underway, the Commission revised the timeline, stating that the final voter list will now be published on March 16, 2026.
Had the voter lists for the 369 wards been finalized as per the old schedule, elections would have occurred in February or March. With the extension, they are now expected in late April or the first week of May. There is a possibility of further delays if major public examinations coincide with this period.
Election Timeline
Election Commission officials stated that once the final voter list is ready and the government finalizes ward-wise reservations, the election notification will be issued a week later. The entire election process will be completed within 45 days of the notification.
The voter list preparation process has been ongoing since November 27. Training for EROs, AEROs, and BLOs is complete, and assembly-wise voter lists have been cross-verified by visiting households. The e-voter list is ready, and the first checklist will be printed on December 19. Following verification, the draft ward-wise voter list will be published on January 19, 2026, followed by the final list on March 16.
Ward Name Changes
The Urban Development Department issued a notification on December 18, renaming Ward 19 of the Bengaluru South City Corporation from 'BTM Layout' to 'Tavarekere.'
Earlier, on November 19, the department had finalized 369 wards across the five corporations. On December 3, it notified boundary and name changes for 20 wards. Notable changes include:
* Ward 3: Renamed from 'Kumaraswamy Ward' to 'Yarab Nagar'.
* Boundary Changes: Wards including 56-Doresanipalya, 60-Bilekahalli, 65-Garvebhavi Palya, and 66-Singasandra underwent boundary adjustments.
Now, the name change for the BTM Layout ward has also been formalized.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು: ಐದು ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳ ಸಾರ್ವತ್ರಿಕ ಚುನಾವಣೆಗೆ ವಾರ್ಡ್ವಾರು ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ತಯಾರಿಸುವ ವೇಳಾಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ರಾಜ್ಯ ಚುನಾವಣಾ ಆಯೋಗ ಒಂದೂವರೆ ತಿಂಗಳು ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಿದೆ.
ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ತಯಾರಿಕೆ ಅವಧಿ ವಿಸ್ತರಣೆಯಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ, ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳಿಗೆ ನಡೆಯಬೇಕಾದ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯೂ ಒಂದೂವರೆ ತಿಂಗಳು ಮುಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿದೆ. ಯಾವ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಇದೇ ವೇಳಾಪಟ್ಟಿಯಂತೆಯೇ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಸಾಗಿದರೆ, ಏಪ್ರಿಲ್ ಅಂತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಚುನಾವಣೆ ನಡೆಯಬಹುದು.
ರಾಜ್ಯ ಚುನಾವಣೆ ಆಯೋಗ 2025ರ ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 27ರಂದು ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದ್ದ ವೇಳಾಪಟ್ಟಿ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, 2026ರ ಜನವರಿ 29ರಂದು ವಾರ್ಡ್ವಾರು ಮತದಾರರ ಅಂತಿಮ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾಗಬೇಕಿತ್ತು. ಇದರ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲೇ, ವೇಳಾಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಪರಿಷ್ಕರಿಸಿರುವ ಆಯೋಗ, 2026ರ ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 16ರಂದು ಮತದಾರರ ಅಂತಿಮ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದೆ.
369 ವಾರ್ಡ್ಗಳ ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಹಿಂದಿನ ವೇಳಾಪಟ್ಟಿಯಂತೆಯೇ ಅಂತಿಮವಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ, ಫೆಬ್ರುವರಿ ಅಥವಾ ಮಾರ್ಚ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಐದು ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಚುನಾವಣೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ವೇಳಾಪಟ್ಟಿ ಒಂದೂವರೆ ತಿಂಗಳು ವಿಸ್ತರಣೆಯಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ, ಏಪ್ರಿಲ್ ಅಂತ್ಯ ಅಥವಾ ಮೇ ಮೊದಲ ವಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಚುನಾವಣೆ ನಡೆಯುವ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆ ಇದೆ. ಯಾವುದಾದರೂ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಗಳು ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಚುನಾವಣೆ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಯೂ ಇದೆ.
ವಾರ್ಡ್ಗಳ ಮತದಾರರ ಅಂತಮ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಸಿದ್ಧಗೊಂಡು, ವಾರ್ಡ್ವಾರು ಮೀಸಲಾತಿಯೂ ಅಂತಿಮಗೊಳಿಸಿ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ನೀಡಿದರೆ, ಒಂದು ವಾರದ ನಂತರ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯ ಅಧಿಸೂಚನೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊರಡಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದಾದ 45 ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಚುನಾವಣೆ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಮುಗಿಯಲಿವೆ ಎಂದು ಚುನಾವಣೆ ಆಯೋಗದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ನವೆಂಬರ್ 27ರಿಂದ ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ತಯಾರಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇಆರ್ಒ, ಎಇಆರ್ಒ, ಬಿಎಲ್ಒಗಳಿಗೆ ತರಬೇತಿ ಮುಗಿದು, ವಿಧಾನಸಭೆವಾರು ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಮತದಾರರ ಮನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಗುರುತು ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇ–ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ತಯಾರಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಡಿ.19ರಂದು ಮೊದಲ ಚೆಕ್ಲಿಸ್ಟ್ ಮುದ್ರಣವಾಗಲಿದೆ. ಎಲ್ಲ ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ ನಂತರ, 2026ರ ಜನವರಿ 19ರಂದು ವಾರ್ಡ್ವಾರು ಮತದಾರರ ಕರಡು ಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 16ರಂದು ಮತದಾರರ ಅಂತಿಮ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
- ಮತದಾರರ ಅಂತಿಮ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯ ನಂತರ ಚುನಾವಣೆಗೆ 45 ದಿನ ಬೇಕು
- ಏಪ್ರಿಲ್–ಮೇನಲ್ಲಿ ಐದು ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಚುನಾವಣೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆ
ವಾರ್ಡ್ ಹೆಸರು ಬದಲು
ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಯ ವಾರ್ಡ್ 19ರ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಬಿಟಿಎಂ ಲೇಔಟ್ನಿಂದ ತಾವರೆಕೆರೆ ಎಂದು ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿ ನಗರಾಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಡಿ.18ರಂದು ಅಧಿಸೂಚನೆ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿದೆ.
ಐದು ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ 369 ವಾರ್ಡ್ಗಳನ್ನು ಅಂತಿಮಗೊಳಿಸಿ ನವೆಂಬರ್ 19ರಂದು ನಗರಾಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಅಂತಿಮ ಅಧಿಸೂಚನೆ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿತ್ತು. 20 ವಾರ್ಡ್ಗಳ ಗಡಿ ಮತ್ತು ಹೆಸರು ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿ ಡಿ.3ರಂದು ಅಧಿಸೂಚಿಸಿತ್ತು.
ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಯ ವಾರ್ಡ್ 3 ಕುಮಾರಸ್ವಾಮಿ ವಾರ್ಡ್ ಅನ್ನು ವಾರ್ಡ್ 3 ಯಾರಬ್ ನಗರ ಎಂದು ಬದಲಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. 56- ದೊರೆಸಾನಿಪಾಳ್ಯ, 60- ಬಿಳೇಕಹಳ್ಳಿ, 65- ಗಾರ್ವೆಬಾವಿ ಪಾಳ್ಯ, 66- ಸಿಂಗಸಂದ್ರ ವಾರ್ಡ್ಗಳ ಗಡಿಯನ್ನು ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಇದೀಗ, ಬಿಟಿಎಂ ಲೇಔಟ್ ವಾರ್ಡ್ ಹೆಸರು ಬದಲಾಗಿದೆ.
