Bengaluru: The Urban Development Department has issued an order to use the ‘Development Right Certificate (DRC)’ or ‘Transfer of Development Right (TDR)’ letters obtained under the jurisdiction of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in the ‘Greater Bengaluru’ jurisdiction.

The BBMP jurisdiction covers the area of more than one local planning authority, including the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Area Planning Authority (BMICPA).

Thus, the BBMP had submitted a proposal on July 27, 2020, requesting that DCRs be allowed to be used in any area of the BBMP.

Considering this, the government has amended Section 13 of the Karnataka Town and Country Planning (KTCP) Act, 1961. This means that DCR or TDR can be used anywhere within the BBMP or Greater Bengaluru Area (GBA) and in the areas that will be included in GBA in the future. The order issued on June 10 stated that the jurisdiction of any planning authority including BDA, BMICPA will not hinder this.

Peenya Industrial Area now ‘Peenya Special Investment Zone’
