Bengaluru: The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), which has significantly contributed to turning the city into a 'concrete jungle,' has now resolved to create a 'green forest' and script a Guinness World Record.

The BDA, which has been at the forefront of concrete development like constructing layouts to provide sites for thousands of families and building roads, flyovers, and underpasses for city infrastructure, is now focusing on growing a 'green forest' in the city as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations.

It has been decided to offer a special gift for Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanti on June 27 by planting 1.5 million (15 lakh) saplings in the Kempegowda, Banashankari, and Shivarama Karanth layouts, which are adjacent to the heart of the city. Buffer zones of lakes and storm-water drains (*rajakaluve*), parks, and public spaces have already been identified for the saplings. Preparations for this have been made, and 500,000 saplings have already arrived. Plans have been drawn up to transport the remaining 1 million and an additional 50,000 saplings from various parts of the state early next week.

The BDA has been planting lakhs of saplings every year for decades. There is no account of how many of them survived. However, this time, as 1.5 million saplings are being planted all at once, it has decided to maintain accountability. Every sapling will be 'geo-tagged.' Its growth can be monitored online. More than 1,000 personnel from the 'Guinness World Records' organization will count the saplings planted on June 27. After this, the responsibility of nurturing the plants for three years has been handed over to NGOs. Using Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, the NGOs will manage all aspects of nurturing. The BDA will only provide the necessary water.

NGOs, corporate houses, civic associations, and educational institutions have joined hands for this 1.5 million sapling-planting campaign. The BDA will issue a certificate to everyone who plants a sapling. If hundreds of people plant saplings as a team, the name of that organization or association will be engraved on a stone in that area.

Priority to Local Species

In the BDA campaign, which will plant saplings on the model of Miyawaki mini-forests, parks, and tree parks, priority is being given to more than 350 indigenous and eco-friendly species. This includes canopy trees, shrubs, flowering plants, and biodiversity-supporting plants like Honge (Pongamia), Neem, Mango, Jackfruit, Jamun, Banyan, Peepal, Bilva, Wild Mango, Melia dubia (*Hebbavu*), and Mahogany. Rare varieties and endangered trees from various parts of the state are being planted here. For this, saplings are being brought from various nurseries.

Through the Miyawaki method, dense and self-sustaining green covers can be created in the city. Using this method, saplings grow faster and reduce the surrounding temperature. However, not all 1.5 million saplings are being planted using the Miyawaki model. It is planned to implement Miyawaki where there is more space, and plant trees in the regular manner in other places.

"Miyawaki forests have already been created by the BDA across seven acres and two and a half acres. NGOs have supported this. The success achieved from that has given us the confidence that we can plant lakhs of trees," said BDA Forest Division DCF Charan.

A 12-Hour Target for the Record

If 1.5 million trees are planted in 12 hours, it will become a Guinness Record. The previous record was set in Indore city, where 1.24 million saplings were planted in 24 hours. On June 27, between 6:30 AM and 6:30 PM, the task of digging the holes and planting the saplings must be completed. Holes cannot be dug in advance. Therefore, the BDA is clearing and preparing the planting sites ahead of time.

"Our intention is not to gain publicity by making a Guinness Record. However, after planting the trees, we need to count how many were planted and where. If done by BDA itself, it wouldn't be appropriate. If registered for a Guinness Record, they will do all the calculations, and we will also get an international-level certificate. Hence, we have registered for the Guinness Record," Manivannan informed.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು: ನಗರವನ್ನು ‘ಕಾಂಕ್ರೀಟ್‌ ಕಾಡ’ನ್ನಾಗಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಿರುವ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಪ್ರಾಧಿಕಾರ (ಬಿಡಿಎ), ಇದೀಗ ‘ಹಸಿರು ಕಾಡು’ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿ, ಗಿನ್ನೆಸ್‌ ದಾಖಲೆ ಬರೆಯುವ ಸಂಕಲ್ಪ ತೊಟ್ಟಿದೆ.

ಬಡಾವಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳಿಗೆ ನಿವೇಶನ ನೀಡಿ, ನಗರದ ಮೂಲಸೌಕರ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ರಸ್ತೆ, ಮೇಲ್ಸೇತುವೆ, ಕೆಳಸೇತುವೆಯಂತಹ ಕಾಂಕ್ರೀಟ್‌ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂಚೂಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬಿಡಿಎ, ತನ್ನ 50ನೇ ವರ್ಷಾಚರಣೆ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ‘ಹಸಿರು ಕಾಡು’ ಬೆಳೆಸುವತ್ತ ನೋಟ ಹರಿಸಿದೆ.

ನಗರದ ಹೃದಯ ಭಾಗಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಂದಿಕೊಂಡಂತಿರುವ ಕೆಂಪೇಗೌಡ, ಬನಶಂಕರಿ, ಶಿವರಾಮ ಕಾರಂತ ಬಡಾವಣೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ 15 ಲಕ್ಷ ಗಿಡಗಳನ್ನು ನೆಟ್ಟು, ಜೂನ್‌ 27ರಂದು ನಾಡಪ್ರಭು ಕೆಂಪೇಗೌಡರ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆಗೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಲು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಕೆರೆ– ರಾಜಕಾಲುವೆಗಳ ಬಫರ್‌ ವಲಯ, ಉದ್ಯಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನು ಸಸಿ ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಗುರುತಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ತಯಾರಿಯನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಐದು ಲಕ್ಷ ಗಿಡಗಳು ಬಂದಿವೆ. ಉಳಿದ, 10 ಲಕ್ಷ ಹಾಗೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚುವರಿಯಾಗಿ 50 ಸಾವಿರ ಗಿಡಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಂದಿನ ವಾರದ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ವಿವಿಧ ಭಾಗಗಳಿಂದ ಸಾಗಣೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಯೋಜನೆ ರೂಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

ಬಿಡಿಎ ಹತ್ತಾರು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷವೂ ಲಕ್ಷಾಂತರ ಗಿಡಗಳನ್ನು ನೆಡುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಅವುಗಳು ಉಳಿದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಲೆಕ್ಕಾಚಾರವಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ, ಈ ಬಾರಿ 15 ಲಕ್ಷ ಗಿಡಗಳನ್ನು ಒಂದೇ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ನೆಡುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಉತ್ತರದಾಯಿತ್ವವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಲು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದೆ. ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಗಿಡಕ್ಕೂ ‘ಜಿಯೊ ಟ್ಯಾಗ್‌’ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದರ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಆನ್‌ಲೈನ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಬಹುದಾಗಿದೆ. ಜೂನ್‌ 27ರಂದು ನೆಡುವ ಗಿಡಗಳನ್ನು ‘ಗಿನ್ನೆಸ್‌ ವರ್ಲ್ಡ್‌ ರೆಕಾರ್ಡ್‌’ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ 1000ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಜನರು ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಮಾಡಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇದಾದ ಮೇಲೆ, ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷ ಗಿಡಗಳನ್ನು ಪೋಷಿಸುವ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯನ್ನು ಎನ್‌ಜಿಒಗಳಿಗೆ ವಹಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಕಾರ್ಪೊರೇಟ್ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ನಿಧಿಯನ್ನು (ಸಿಎಸ್ಆರ್‌)  ಬಳಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಎನ್‌ಜಿಒಗಳು ಎಲ್ಲ ರೀತಿಯ ಪೋಷಣೆಯ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯನ್ನು ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ನೀರನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಬಿಡಿಎ ಒದಗಿಸಲಿದೆ. 

15 ಲಕ್ಷ ಗಿಡ ನೆಡುವ ಅಭಿಯಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಎನ್‌ಜಿಇ, ಕಾರ್ಪೊರೇಟ್‌ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು, ನಾಗರಿಕ ಸಂಘಗಳು, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು  ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಸಸಿ ನೆಟ್ಟ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೂ ಬಿಡಿಎ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಪತ್ರ ನೀಡಲಿದೆ. ನೂರಾರು ಜನರು ತಂಡವಾಗಿ ಗಿಡ ನೆಟ್ಟರೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಆ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಅಥವಾ ಸಂಘದ ಹೆಸರನ್ನೂ ಆ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲ್ಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆತ್ತಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಮಿಯಾವಾಕಿ ಕಿರು ಅರಣ್ಯ, ಉದ್ಯಾನ ಹಾಗೂ ವೃಕ್ಷವನಗಳ ಮಾದರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಸಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೆಡುವ ಬಿಡಿಎ ಆಂದೋಲನದಲ್ಲಿ, ಹೊಂಗೆ, ಬೇವು, ಮಾವು, ಹಲಸು, ನೇರಳೆ, ಆಲದಮರ, ಅರಳಿ, ಬಿಲ್ವ, ಕಾಡುಮಾವು, ಹೆಬ್ಬೇವು, ಮಹಾಗನಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಚಾವಣಿ ಮರಗಳು, ಪೊದೆಗಳು, ಹೂವಿನ ಗಿಡಗಳು, ಜೀವವೈವಿಧ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ನೆರವಾಗುವ ಗಿಡಗಳು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ, ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಸರ ಸ್ನೇಹಿ 350ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪ್ರಭೇದಗಳಿಗೆ ಆದ್ಯತೆ ನೀಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಅಅರಣ್ಯ  ರಾಜ್ಯದ ವಿವಿಧ ಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪರೂಪದ ತಳಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ನಶಿಸಿಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಗಿಡ–ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹಲವು ನರ್ಸರಿಗಳಿಂದ ಗಿಡಗಳನ್ನು ತರಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಮಿಯಾವಾಕಿ ವಿಧಾನದಿಂದ ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ದಟ್ಟ, ಸ್ವಾವಲಂಬಿ ಹಸಿರು ಹೊದಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಬಹುದಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ವಿಧಾನದಿಂದ ಸಸಿಗಳು ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆಯಲಿದ್ದು, ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಉಷ್ಣಾಂಶವನ್ನು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. 15 ಲಕ್ಷ ಸಸಿಗಳೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಮಿಯಾವಾಕಿ ಮಾದರಿಯಲ್ಲೇ ನಡೆಲಾಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸ್ಥಳ ಇರುವ ಕಡೆ ಮಿಯಾವಾಕಿ, ಉಳಿದ ಕಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗಿಡಗಳನ್ನು ನಡೆಲು ಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

‘ಬಿಡಿಎ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಏಳು ಎಕರೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಎರಡೂವರೆ ಎಕರೆ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ವಿಯಾವಾಕಿ ಅರಣ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಎನ್‌ಜಿಒಗಳ ಸಹಕಾರವಿದೆ. ಅದರಿಂದ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿರುವ ಯಶಸ್ಸು, ಲಕ್ಷಾಂತರ ಗಿಡಗಳನ್ನು ನೆಡಬಹುದು ಎಂಬ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ಮೂಡಿದೆ’ ಎಂದು ಬಿಡಿಎ ಅರಣ್ಯ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಡಿಸಿಎಫ್‌ ಚರಣ್‌ ಹೇಳಿದರು.

 

ದಾಖಲೆಗೆ 12 ಗಂಟೆಯ ಗುರಿ

15 ಲಕ್ಷ ಗಿಡಗಳನ್ನು 12 ಗಂಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಟ್ಟರೆ ಗಿನ್ನೆಸ್‌ ದಾಖಲೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಈವರೆಗಿನ ದಾಖಲೆ ಎಂದರೆ, ಇಂದೋರ್‌ ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ 24 ಗಂಟೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ 12.4 ಲಕ್ಷ ಗಿಡ ನೆಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಜೂನ್‌ 27ರಂದು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ 6.30ರಿಂದ ಸಂಜೆ 6.30ರೊಳಗೆ ಸಸಿ ನೆಡಲು ಗುಂಡಿ ತೋಡುವ ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಅದನ್ನು ನೆಡುವ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ಮೊದಲೇ ಗುಂಡಿಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಸಸಿ ನೆಡುವ ಪ್ರದೇಶವನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಎ ಈಗಿಂದಲೇ ಹಸನುಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ.

‘ಗಿನ್ನೆಸ್‌ ದಾಖಲೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಪ್ರಚಾರ ಪಡೆಯಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ನಮ್ಮದಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ, ಗಿಡ ನೆಟ್ಟ ಮೇಲೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ಎಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಎಂಬ ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಬಿಡಿಎಯಿಂದಲೇ ಅದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಸಮಂಜಸವಲ್ಲ. ಗಿನ್ನೆಸ್‌ ದಾಖಲೆಗೆ ನೋಂದಣಿಯಾದರೆ, ಎಲ್ಲ ಲೆಕ್ಕಾಚಾರವನ್ನೂ ಅವರು ಮಾಡುವ ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಪತ್ರವೂ ನಮಗೆ ಲಭ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ, ಗಿನ್ನೆಸ್‌ ದಾಖಲೆಗೆ ನೋಂದಣಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ’ ಎಂದು ಮಣಿವಣ್ಣನ್‌ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದರು.
