Footfall Drops at Indira Canteens: GBA Outlines Master Plan for Revival 

Bengaluru: Indira Canteens, launched to alleviate the hunger of the city's urban poor and labor class, are currently struggling due to a lack of customers. To draw back the public who are currently favoring street-side eateries, the GBA (Greater Bengaluru Authority) is now preparing a new strategic roadmap.

Indira Canteen: Prioritizing Quality and Hygiene

"People are choosing to eat at roadside hotels and from street vendors rather than coming to our canteens. There are complaints that a lack of food quality and cleanliness are the primary reasons for this," admitted GBA Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao.
He shared several key insights regarding the current status of Indira Canteens and the city's overall infrastructure development.

Measures for Revitalization:

 * New Menu: Changes to the food list to attract more customers.
 * Official Meetings: Discussions with officials from all zones to prepare a comprehensive improvement plan.
 * Infrastructure: Upgrading existing canteens before considering the opening of new ones.
Changes in Traffic and Parking Systems
The corporation has taken several significant decisions to address the city's parking woes:

 * No Parking Fees in Front of Houses:

 "There is no proposal before the government to levy fees for parking vehicles in front of one's own house. It is not right to charge fees without providing an alternative system," the Commissioner clarified.

 * Mechanized Parking: 

Due to space constraints near Metro stations, a report has been requested to implement mechanized parking systems in collaboration with BMRCL.
 * Pay and Park: This system will be implemented phase-wise on at least 15 selected major roads in the city.

Road Development and Waste Disposal

Under the Chief Minister's special fund, road development work is underway at a cost of approximately ₹1,200 crore. The Commissioner assured that the face of the city's roads would transform within the next two months.
Additionally, to eliminate roadside garbage piles that mar the city's beauty, 'Transfer Stations' are being established in every assembly constituency. This will allow waste to be disposed of directly from autos to the transfer stations, preventing the manual sorting of waste on the streets.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು: ನಗರದ ಬಡವರು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾರ್ಮಿಕ ವರ್ಗದ ಹಸಿವು ನೀಗಿಸಲು ಆರಂಭಿಸಲಾದ 'ಇಂದಿರಾ ಕ್ಯಾಂಟೀನ್'ಗಳು ಸದ್ಯ ಗ್ರಾಹಕರಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಸೊರಗುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಬೀದಿಬದಿ ಆಹಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಜನ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಆಸಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಕ್ಯಾಂಟೀನ್‌ಗಳತ್ತ ಸೆಳೆಯಲು ಜಿಬಿಎ ಈಗ ಹೊಸ ಕಾರ್ಯತಂತ್ರ ರೂಪಿಸಲು ಮುಂದಾಗಿದೆ.

ಇಂದಿರಾ ಕ್ಯಾಂಟೀನ್: ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತೆಗೆ ಆದ್ಯತೆ

"ಜನರು ರಸ್ತೆ ಬದಿಯ ಹೋಟೆಲ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಊಟ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆಯೇ ಹೊರತು ಕ್ಯಾಂಟೀನ್‌ಗಳಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಆಹಾರದ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತೆಯ ಕೊರತೆಯೇ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಕಾರಣ ಎಂಬ ದೂರುಗಳಿವೆ," ಎಂದು ಜಿಬಿಎ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಆಯುಕ್ತ ಮಹೇಶ್ವರ್ ರಾವ್ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡರು.

ಇಂದಿರಾ ಕ್ಯಾಂಟೀನ್‌ಗಳ ಇಂದಿನ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಗತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ನಗರದ ಮೂಲಸೌಕರ್ಯ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯ ಕುರಿತು ಹಲವು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ವಿಚಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡರು.

ಪುನಶ್ಚೇತನಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಿರುವ ಕ್ರಮಗಳು:

 * ಹೊಸ ಮೆನು: ಗ್ರಾಹಕರನ್ನು ಆಕರ್ಷಿಸಲು ಆಹಾರದ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬದಲಾವಣೆ.

 * ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ಸಭೆ: ಎಲ್ಲ ವಲಯಗಳ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಚರ್ಚಿಸಿ ಸುಧಾರಣಾ ಯೋಜನೆ ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸುವುದು.

 * ಮೂಲಸೌಕರ್ಯ: ಹೊಸ ಕ್ಯಾಂಟೀನ್ ತೆರೆಯುವ ಮುನ್ನ ಹಳೆಯವುಗಳನ್ನು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಪಡಿಸುವುದು.

ಸಂಚಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಪಾರ್ಕಿಂಗ್ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬದಲಾವಣೆ

ನಗರದ ಪಾರ್ಕಿಂಗ್ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ನೀಗಿಸಲು ಪಾಲಿಕೆಯು ಕೆಲವು ಮಹತ್ವದ ತೀರ್ಮಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಂಡಿದೆ:

 ಮನೆ ಮುಂದೆ ಪಾರ್ಕಿಂಗ್ ಶುಲ್ಕವಿಲ್ಲ:

 "ಮನೆ ಮುಂದೆ ವಾಹನ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಲು ಶುಲ್ಕ ವಿಧಿಸುವ ಯಾವುದೇ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾವನೆ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಮುಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ಪರ್ಯಾಯ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸದೆ ಶುಲ್ಕ ವಿಧಿಸುವುದು ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲ," ಎಂದು ಆಯುಕ್ತರು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

 * ಯಾಂತ್ರೀಕೃತ ಪಾರ್ಕಿಂಗ್ 

ಮೆಟ್ರೊ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣಗಳ ಬಳಿ ಜಾಗದ ಅಭಾವವಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಬಿಎಂಆರ್‌ಸಿಎಲ್ ಸಹಯೋಗದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಯಾಂತ್ರೀಕೃತ ಪಾರ್ಕಿಂಗ್ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಜಾರಿಗೆ ತರಲು ವರದಿ ಕೇಳಲಾಗಿದೆ.

 * ಪೇ ಆ್ಯಂಡ್ ಪಾರ್ಕ್: ನಗರದ ಆಯ್ದ 15 ಪ್ರಮುಖ ರಸ್ತೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹಂತಹಂತವಾಗಿ ಈ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಜಾರಿಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು.

ರಸ್ತೆ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಮತ್ತು ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ವಿಲೇವಾರಿ

ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿಯವರ ವಿಶೇಷ ನಿಧಿಯಡಿ ಸುಮಾರು ₹1,200 ಕೋಟಿ ವೆಚ್ಚದಲ್ಲಿ ನಗರದ ರಸ್ತೆಗಳ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಮುಂದಿನ ಎರಡು ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ರಸ್ತೆಗಳ ಚಿತ್ರಣ ಬದಲಾಗಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಭರವಸೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.

ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ನಗರದ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ಕೆಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ರಸ್ತೆ ಬದಿಯ ಕಸದ ರಾಶಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಮುಕ್ತಿ ನೀಡಲು ಪ್ರತಿ ವಿಧಾನಸಭೆ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೊಂದರಂತೆ 'ಟ್ರಾನ್ಸ್‌ಫರ್ ಸ್ಟೇಷನ್' ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇದರಿಂದ ಆಟೋಗಳಿಂದ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಕಸ ವಿಲೇವಾರಿಯಾಗಲಿದ್ದು, ರಸ್ತೆ ಬದಿ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ವಿಂಗಡಣೆ ತಪ್ಪಲಿದೆ.
