'Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Heritage Corridor'

Bengaluru: BBMP has decided to develop 'Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Heritage Corridor' within Chikkapete and Basavanagudi assembly constituencies.
A 12 km area between Lalbagh Tower and Kempambudhi Lake Towers has been identified for this, which was decided in a meeting chaired by BBMP South Zone Commissioner Jayaram Raipur to finalize it soon.
Public facilities including roads, footpaths, street light poles along this corridor have been decided to be uniform. The corridor will be demarcated by painting 1.5 mm polythene without destroying the existing road and pavement.
Open shelters, streetlights, furniture, signboards, artworks will be installed at 24 locations, one every 500 meters of the corridor. Location introduction information will be published.
Special lighting arrangements will be made at 24 special rest stops and main heritage sites of the corridor. A light-sound 'rupaka' and a sound-light show will be arranged. This development is decided to be done in traditional style.
An artificial intelligence cellphone and app based guide will be created within the corridor. Jayaram said that it has been suggested to prepare the final detailed plan report (DPR) soon and before that it has been decided to seek the advice of experts and local eminent citizens.
Corridor in Malleshwara and Halasuru too
DPR for 'Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Heritage Corridor' in Basavanagudi -Chikkapete will be finalized in another month. The corridor is slated to be developed by the end of this year. Besides, it has been decided to develop a corridor in the area of Sankey lake, Kadu Malleshwara temple in Malleshwara and another corridor in the area of Halasuru lake, Someswara temple. ₹180 crore has been earmarked for these three corridors in the BBMP budget. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar suggested that the development of these corridors should be speedy. Thus, in the 12 km of the 'Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Heritage Corridor' we are going to walk on Sunday morning along with Chief Engineer Rajesh and other officials, said Jayaram Raipur, who is also the special commissioner of BBMP finance department.
