Bengaluru: The ‘Secondary Transfer Stations’ (STS) in the city, where garbage collected from houses is directly transferred to the transfer center by auto tippers, and from there to the processing unit without odor or leakage, have become a model not only for the state but also for more than 20 municipalities in the country.

The STS was started in Ejipura-Koramangala by the Bangalore Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) in March 2024. Due to the success of this unit, which is being operated by ‘Parishuddh Ventures’, BSWML has decided to set up STSs in all the assembly constituencies under the BBMP jurisdiction.

Apart from some of the state corporations, representatives of more than 20 corporations from many states including Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Vizag, Gangtok, Tambaram, Kochi, Junagadh, Patiala, Chennai have visited the ‘Parishuddh Ventures’ STS and received suggestions and project details for setting up similar units in their places. The mayor of the Philippines, a delegation of German parliamentarians, and representatives from Bali, Indonesia, and Qatar have also visited the unit and expressed their appreciation. They have received the project details and have also requested assistance in setting it up there, BSWML officials informed.

Apart from Ejipur, STS is functioning in Binnipet, Chamarajpet. A unit is already ready for inauguration in Sarvajnanagar. The STS is being constructed behind the BSWML office on Millers Road. Apart from these, BSWML has invited tenders for construction of 23 new STSs and the bids will be opened soon.

Procedure: Waste collected from households will be directly brought to the STS unit through auto tippers. Everything from the arrival of the auto under the surveillance of CCTV cameras, its route number, license plate, and weight of the waste will be recorded on the website. The waste will be sent directly from the auto to the ‘capsules’ which are in the form of ‘fuel containers’. The liquid waste is discharged, compressed, and filled. There is also room for more liquid waste to be collected at the bottom of the ‘capsules’. This will be sent to the processing units through GPS-controlled trucks.

About 16 tons of waste will be sent in a single ‘capsule’. It does not emit any kind of liquid waste or odor. Also, during the time when the waste is loaded into the ‘capsule’ from the auto, a biological fluid is sprayed to prevent the odor from leaving the station. The STS also has the facility for segregation and transportation of dry waste and mixed waste. About 160 tons of waste from seven wards is being disposed of daily at the STS in Ejipur.

BBMP will provide 25,000 square feet of land to set up the new STS unit, and the contractors will have to design, construct, supply, install and maintain the STS at a fixed rate on a turnkey lumpsum basis, BSWML officials said.

More accurate, odorless: Karigowda

‘The construction of STSs will make waste management and transportation more accurate. As the waste collected from households will go directly to the STS from auto tippers, there will be no process of transferring the garbage to the compactor on the road. The STS will operate odorlessly and there will be no leakage of liquid waste from the waste transported in capsules, said BSWML Chief Executive Officer Karigowda.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು: ಮನೆಗಳಿಂದ ಸಂಗ್ರಹವಾಗುವ ಕಸ, ಆಟೊ ಟಿಪ್ಪರ್‌ಗಳಿಂದ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ವರ್ಗಾವಣೆ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ರವಾನೆಯಾಗಿ, ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಸಂಸ್ಕರಣೆ ಘಟಕಕ್ಕೆ ವಾಸನೆ, ಸೋರಿಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಸಾಗಣೆಯಗುವ ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ‘ಸೆಕೆಂಡರಿ ಟ್ರಾನ್ಸ್‌ಫರ್‌ ಸ್ಟೇಷನ್‌’ಗಳು (ಎಸ್‌ಟಿಎಸ್) ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ, ದೇಶದ 20ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಾದರಿಯಾಗಿವೆ.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಘನತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ ನಿಯಮಿತದ (ಬಿಎಸ್‌ಡಬ್ಲ್ಯುಎಂಎಲ್‌) ವತಿಯಿಂದ  ಈಜಿಪುರ– ಕೋರಮಂಗಲದಲ್ಲಿ 2024ರ ಮಾರ್ಚ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಸ್‌ಟಿಎಸ್‌ ಆರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. ‘ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ್‌ ವೆಂಚರ್ಸ್‌’ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಈ ಘಟಕದ ಯಶಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಬಿಬಿಎಂಪಿ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯ ಎಲ್ಲ ವಿಧಾನಸಭೆ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಎಸ್‌ಟಿಎಸ್‌ಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲು ಬಿಎಸ್‌ಡಬ್ಲ್ಯುಎಂಎಲ್‌ ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದೆ.

ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಕೆಲವು ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲದೆ, ಲಕ್ನೊ, ಭುವನೇಶ್ವರ್‌, ವೈಜಾಗ್‌, ಗ್ಯಾಂಗ್ಟಾಕ್‌, ತಂಬರಂ, ಕೊಚ್ಚಿ, ಜುನಾಘಡ್, ಪಾಟಿಯಾಲಾ, ಚೆನ್ನೈ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವು ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳ 20ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳು ‘ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ್‌ ವೆಂಚರ್ಸ್‌’ ಎಸ್‌ಟಿಎಸ್‌ಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿ, ಅಂತಹದ್ದೇ ಘಟಕಗಳನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಲಹೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಯೋಜನೆಯ ವಿವರಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಿವೆ. ಫಿಲಿಪ್ಪೀನ್ಸ್‌ನ ಮೇಯರ್‌, ಜರ್ಮನಿಯ ಸಂಸದರ ನಿಯೋಗ, ಇಂಡೋನೇಷ್ಯಾದ ಬಾಲಿ, ಕತಾರ್‌ ನಗರಗ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳೂ ಘಟಕಕ್ಕೆ ಭೇಟಿ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆ ಸೂಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಯೋಜನೆ ವಿವರಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲು ನೆರವಾಗಲೂ ಕೋರಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಬಿಎಸ್‌ಡಬ್ಲ್ಯುಎಂಎಲ್‌ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದರು.

ಈಜಿಪುರವಲ್ಲದೆ, ಚಾಮರಾಜಪೇಟೆಯ ಬಿನ್ನಿಪೇಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಸ್‌ಟಿಎಸ್‌ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಸರ್ವಜ್ಞನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಘಟಕ ಉದ್ಘಾಟನೆಗೆ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ. ಮಿಲ್ಲರ್ಸ್‌ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬಿಎಸ್‌ಡಬ್ಲ್ಯುಎಂಎಲ್‌ ಕಚೇರಿಯ ಹಿಂಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಸ್‌ಟಿಎಸ್ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇವುಗಳಲ್ಲದೆ, ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ 23 ಎಸ್‌ಟಿಎಸ್‌ಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲು, ಬಿಎಸ್‌ಡಬ್ಲ್ಯುಎಂಎಲ್‌ ಟೆಂಡರ್ ಕರೆದಿದ್ದು, ಸದ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಬಿಡ್‌ ತೆರಯಲಿದೆ.

ಕಾರ್ಯವಿಧಾನ: ಮನೆಗಳಿಂದ ಸಂಗ್ರಹವಾಗುವ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ಆಟೊ ಟಿಪ್ಪರ್‌ಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಎಸ್‌ಟಿಎಸ್‌ ಘಟಕಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಲಿದೆ. ಸಿ.ಸಿ ಟಿ.ವಿ ಕ್ಯಾಮೆರಾ ನಿಗಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಟೊದ ಬರುವಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಹಿಡಿದು, ಅದರ ರೂಟ್‌ ನಂಬರ್‌, ಸಂಖ್ಯಾಫಲಕ, ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯದ ತೂಕ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ವೆಬ್‌ಸೈಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಖಲಾಗಲಿದೆ. ಆಟೊದಿಂದ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ‘ಇಂಧನ ಸಾಗಿಸುವ ಕಂಟೈನರ್‌’ಗಳ ಮಾದರಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ‘ಕ್ಯಾಪ್ಸೂಲ್‌’ಗಳಿಗೆ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ರವಾನೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ದ್ರವ–ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೊರಹಾಕಿ, ಕಂಪ್ರೆಸ್‌ ಮಾಡಿ ತುಂಬಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ‘ಕ್ಯಾಪ್ಸೂಲ್’ಗಳ ತಳಭಾಗದಲ್ಲೂ ದ್ರವ–ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಕ್ಕೆ ಅವಕಾಶವಿದೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಜಿಪಿಎಸ್‌ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಟ್ರಕ್‌ಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಂಸ್ಕರಣೆ ಘಟಕಗಳಿಗೆ ರವಾನಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಸುಮಾರು 16 ಟನ್‌ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ಒಂದೇ ‘ಕ್ಯಾಪ್ಸೂಲ್‌’ನಲ್ಲಿ ರವಾನೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ಯಾವುದೇ ರೀತಿಯ ದ್ರವ–ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ, ವಾಸನೆಯನ್ನೂ ಹೊರಹಾಕುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ, ಆಟೊದಿಂದ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ‘ಕ್ಯಾಪ್ಸೂಲ್’ ಒಳಗೆ ಸೇರಿಸುವ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲೂ ವಾಸನೆ ಸ್ಟೇಷನ್‌ನಿಂದ ಹೊರಹೋಗದಂತೆ ಜೈವಿಕ ದ್ರವವನ್ನು ಸಿಂಪಡಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಒಣ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಿಶ್ರ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯದ ವಿಂಗಡಣೆ, ಸಾಗಣೆಗೂ ಎಸ್‌ಟಿಎಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವಕಾಶವಿದೆ. ಈಜಿಪುರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಸ್‌ಟಿಎಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಏಳು ವಾರ್ಡ್‌ಗಳ ಸುಮಾರು 160 ಟನ್‌ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ವಿಲೇವಾರಿಯಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.

ಹೊಸ ಎಸ್‌ಟಿಎಸ್‌ ಘಟಕ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲು ಬಿಬಿಎಂಪಿ 25 ಸಾವಿರ ಚದರಡಿ ಜಾಗವನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಿದ್ದು, ಟರ್ನ್‌ಕೀ ಲಂಪ್‌ಸಮ್‌ ಆಧಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಗದಿಯಾದ ದರದಲ್ಲಿ, ಎಸ್‌ಟಿಎಸ್‌ಗಳನ್ನು ವಿನ್ಯಾಸಗೊಳಿಸಿ, ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಿ, ಸರಬರಾಜು, ಅಳವಡಿಕೆ, ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಯನ್ನು ಗುತ್ತಿಗೆದಾರರು ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಬಿಎಸ್‌ಡಬ್ಲ್ಯುಎಂಎಲ್‌ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

 

ಹೆಚ್ಚು ನಿಖರ, ವಾಸನೆರಹಿತ: ಕರೀಗೌಡ

‘ಎಸ್‌ಟಿಎಸ್‌ಗಳ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದಿಂದ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ, ಸಾಗಣೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ನಿಖರವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಮನೆಗಳಿಂದ ಸಂಗ್ರಹವಾಗುವ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ಆಟೊ ಟಿಪ್ಪರ್‌ಗಳಿಂದ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಎಸ್‌ಟಿಎಸ್‌ಗೆ ಹೋಗುವುದರಿಂದ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಂಪ್ಯಾಕ್ಟರ್‌ಗೆ ಕಸ ವರ್ಗಾಯಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಎಸ್‌ಟಿಎಸ್‌ಗಳು ವಾಸನೆರಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಲಿದ್ದು, ಕ್ಯಾಪ್ಯೂಲ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಗಣೆಯಾಗುವ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯದಿಂದ ದ್ರವತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ಸೋರಿಕೆಯೂ ಆಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ’ ಎಂದಿ ಬಿಎಸ್‌ಡಬ್ಲ್ಯುಎಂಎಲ್‌ನ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹ‌ಣಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ಕರೀಗೌಡ ಅವರು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
