Citizens Unable to Access Voters' List

Bengaluru: The revised draft ward-wise voters' list for five city corporations is currently inaccessible to citizens. Although District Election Officer Maheshwar Rao claimed that everything is available online, the information is missing from the portal.

The voters' list cannot be found on the GBA website (https://gba.karnataka.gov.in/electoral2026/). The GBA had previously stated that citizens could verify their details using their Voter ID (EPIC) number, name, or by searching polling station-wise.

While these three options appear on the website, the EPIC and name-based search functions are non-functional; clicking these options fails to open the page. If voters attempt to check their names via the polling station-wise option, they are presented with details for the city corporation, ward number, and polling station. However, even if they know their polling station number, they are forced to manually search for their name among thousands of entries in that list.

"Not everyone knows their polling station number. It is impossible to search for our names in the list using the EPIC number or name. Lodging a complaint about this has been of no use," lamented Subramanya, a resident of Ganganagar.

When contacted, GBA Deputy Election Commissioner Srinivas initially advised, "Search for your name in the list using the EPIC number or name on the website." When the press representative informed him that those options do not open, Srinivas—who seemed unaware of the technical glitch—responded, "I will look into this on Tuesday and provide information."

Deadline Extension

According to a GBA press release, the deadline for citizens to file complaints and objections regarding the revised ward-wise voters' list for the five city corporations has been extended to March 20.

Initially, the window to file objections to the revised draft list was set from March 10 to March 16. During a meeting, representatives of political parties had unanimously requested an extension. Consequently, a proposal was sent to the State Election Commission. The Commission has considered the proposal and officially extended the period for submitting complaints and objections.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು: ಐದು ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳ ವಾರ್ಡ್‌ವಾರು ಮತದಾರರ ಪರಿಷ್ಕೃತ ಕರಡು ಪಟ್ಟಿ ನಾಗರಿಕರಿಗೆ ಸಿಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಆನ್‌ಲೈನ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಲಭ್ಯ ಎಂದು ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಚುನಾವಣಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ಮಹೇಶ್ವರ್‌ ರಾವ್ ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರೂ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.

ಜಿಬಿಎ ವೆಬ್‌ಸೈಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ (https://gba.karnataka.gov.in/electoral2026/) ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಮತದಾರರ ಗುರುತಿನ ಚೀಟಿ (ಎಪಿಕ್‌) ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ, ಮತದಾರರ ಹೆಸರು ಹಾಗೂ ಮತಗಟ್ಟೆವಾರು ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು ಎಂದು ಜಿಬಿಎ ಹೇಳಿತ್ತು. 

ಈ ಮೂರೂ ಆಯ್ಕೆಗಳು ವೆಬ್‌ಸೈಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಲಭ್ಯವಿವೆ. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಎಪಿಕ್‌ ಹಾಗೂ ಮತದಾರರ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಈ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮೇಲೆ ಕ್ಲಿಕ್‌ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ, ಆ ಪುಟ ತೆರೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಇನ್ನು ಮತಗಟ್ಟೆವಾರು ಮತದಾರರು ತಮ್ಮ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಲು ಮುಂದಾದರೆ, ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆ, ವಾರ್ಡ್‌ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ, ಮತಗಟ್ಟೆ ವಿವರ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಮತಗಟ್ಟೆ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿ, ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಹೆಸರುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಮತದಾರರು ಹುಡುಕಬೇಕು.

‘ಮತಗಟ್ಟೆ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಗೊತ್ತಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಎಪಿಕ್‌ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಮತದಾರರ ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದ ಮತಪಟ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಹೆಸರಿದೆಯೇ ಎಂದು ಹುಡುಕುವುದು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ದೂರು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರೂ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನವಾಗಿಲ್ಲ’ ಎಂದು ಗಂಗಾನಗರ ನಿವಾಸಿ ಸುಬ್ರಹ್ಮಣ್ಯ ದೂರಿದರು.

‘ವೆಬ್‌ಸೈಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಪಿಕ್‌ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ,  ಮತದಾರರ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮತದಾರರ ಹೆಸರು ಪಟ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿದೆಯೇ ಎಂದು ಹುಡುಕಿ’ ಎಂದು ಜಿಬಿಎ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯ ಉಪ ಆಯುಕ್ತ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ್‌ ಹೇಳಿದರು. ‘ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ತೆರೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ’ ಎಂದು ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿ ಹೇಳಿದಾಗ, ಆ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯೇ ಇರದ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ್‌ ಅವರು, ‘ಮಂಗಳವಾರ ಈ ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ ನಡೆಸಿ, ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡುತ್ತೇನೆ’ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯಿಸಿದರು.

ಅವಧಿ ವಿಸ್ತರಣೆ: ಐದು ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳ ವಾರ್ಡ್‌ವಾರು ಮತದಾರರ ಪರಿಷ್ಕೃತ ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ನಾಗರಿಕರು ದೂರು ಮತ್ತು ಆಕ್ಷೇಪಣೆಗಳ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವ ಅವಧಿಯನ್ನು ಮಾರ್ಚ್‌ 20ರವರೆಗೆ ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಜಿಬಿಎ ಪ್ರಕಟಣೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದೆ.

 ಮತದಾರರ  ಪರಿಷ್ಕೃತ ಕರಡು ಪಟ್ಟಿಯ ಕುರಿತು ದೂರು ಮತ್ತು ಆಕ್ಷೇಪಣೆಗಳಿದ್ದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾರ್ಚ್‌ 10ರಿಂದ ಮಾರ್ಚ್‌ 16ರವರೆಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲು ಅವಕಾಶ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಪಕ್ಷಗಳ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೂರು ಮತ್ತು ಆಕ್ಷೇಪಣೆ ಅವಧಿಯನ್ನು ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಲು ಒಕ್ಕೊರಲಿನಿಂದ ಮನವಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರು. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ, ರಾಜ್ಯ ಚುನಾವಣಾ ಆಯೋಗಕ್ಕೆ ಅವಧಿಯನ್ನು ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಲು ಕೋರಿ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾವನೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾವನೆಯನ್ನು ಆಯೋಗ ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಿದೆ. ಅದರಂತೆ, ದೂರು ಮತ್ತು ಆಕ್ಷೇಪಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವ ಅವಧಿಯನ್ನು ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
