Elections for Five City Corporations After 2026 May 25
Ballot Papers to be used for GBA’s 5 City Corporation Elections
BENGALURU: The State Election Commissioner, G.S. Sangreshi, announced that ballot papers will be used instead of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the upcoming elections of the five city corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).
While releasing the draft voters' list on Monday, the Commissioner explained that according to the rules of the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act (GBGA), the commission has the discretion to conduct elections using either EVMs or ballot papers. Exercising this power, the commission has decided to proceed with ballot papers for all five corporations.
Responding to media queries, he clarified: "The State Election Commission is an autonomous body and does not function under anyone's subordination. Ballot papers are being used as per the law. There was no instruction from the government; this is entirely the decision of the Election Commission."
Election Timeline & Voter Registration
The elections for the 369 wards across the five city corporations will be held after May 25 and are scheduled to be completed by June 30, 2026, in accordance with Supreme Court orders.
* Voter List Verification: Citizens are encouraged to check if their names are on the draft list. Anyone aged 18 and above is eligible to apply for inclusion.
* Draft Basis: The current list is based on data as of October 1, 2025.
* Door-to-Door Verification: Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit homes from January 20 to February 3 to verify details and accept claims or objections.
* Disposal of Claims: Objections will be processed between February 4 and February 18.
* Final List: The final voters' list will be published on March 16.

Final Voters' List on March 30
Bengaluru, January 24, 2026: The State Election Commission has revised the schedule for preparing ward-wise voters' lists for the general elections of five city corporations. It has decided to publish the final voters' list on March 30 instead of March 15.
During a meeting of District Election Officers held after the publication of the draft voters' list (Jan 19), it was suggested that it would be more appropriate to adopt the currently available Assembly voters' list to prepare the ward-wise lists for city corporations. This is because the existing forms for adding, deleting, or objecting to names in the Assembly list differ from the Greater Bengaluru Administration voter registration rules.
According to the Election Commission's circular, the revised schedule has been set to prepare ward-wise lists by adopting Rule 30 of the Greater Bengaluru Administration Rules, 2025, as per the opinions of political party representatives and GBA officials.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು, 24 ಜನವರಿ 2026: ಐದು ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳ ಸಾರ್ವತ್ರಿಕ ಚುನಾವಣೆಗೆ ವಾರ್ಡ್ವಾರು ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ತಯಾರಿಸುವ ವೇಳಾಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಪರಿಷ್ಕರಿಸಿರುವ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಚುನಾವಣಾ ಆಯೋಗ, ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 15ರ ಬದಲು ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 30ರಂದು ಮತದಾರ ಅಂತಿಮ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಲು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದೆ.
ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಚಾಲ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ವಿಧಾನಸಭೆ ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಹೆಸರು ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆ, ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಲು ಹಾಗೂ ಆಕ್ಷೇಪಣೆಗೆ ನಮೂನೆಗಳಿದ್ದು, ಗ್ರೇಟರ್ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಆಡಳಿತ ಮತದಾರರ ನೋಂದಣಿ ನಿಯಮಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿವೆ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ, ತತ್ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಲಭ್ಯವಿರುವ ವಿಧಾನಸಭೆ ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಅಳವಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳಿಗೆ ವಾರ್ಡ್ವಾರು ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ತಯಾರಿಸುವುದು ಸೂಕ್ತ ಎಂದು ಕರಡು ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದ (ಜ.19) ನಂತರ ನಡೆದ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಚುನಾವಣಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತವಾಯಿತು.
ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಪಕ್ಷಗಳು ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳೂ, ಜಿಬಿಎ ಅಧಕಾರಿಗಳ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯದಂತೆ ‘ಗ್ರೇಟರ್ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಆಡಳಿತ ನಿಯಮ– 2025ರ ನಿಯಮ 30 ಅನ್ನು ಯಥಾವತ್ತಾಗಿ ಅಳವಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ವಾರ್ಡ್ವಾರು ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ತಯಾರಿಸಲು ಪರಿಷ್ಕೃತ ವೇಳಾಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ನಿಗದಿಪಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಚುನಾವಣಾ ಆಯೋಗದ ಸುತ್ತೋಲೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದೆ.
ವೇಳಾಪಟ್ಟಿ: ಮತದಾರರ ಕರಡು ಪಟ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮತದಾರರನ್ನು ಜ.22ರಿಂದ 31ರವರೆಗೆ ಮತಗಟ್ಟೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಗುರುತಿಸುವುದು. ಪುನರಾವರ್ತನೆ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಧಾನಸಭೆ ವಾರು ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ವಾರ್ಡ್ವಾರು ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಫೆಬ್ರುವರಿ 1ರಿಂದ 9ರವರೆಗೆ ತಾಳೆ ಮಾಡುವುದು. ಫೆ.10ರಿಂದ 17ರವರೆಗೆ ಪೂರಕ ಪಟ್ಟಿ–1 ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸುವುದು, ಫೆಬ್ರುವರಿ 18ರಿಂದ 22ರವರೆಗೆ ಇ–ರೋಲ್ ತಯಾರಿಕೆ, ಫೆ.23ರಿಂದ ಫೆ.27ರವರೆಗೆ ಅಂತಿಮ ಚೆಕ್ಲಿಸ್ಟ್ ಮುದ್ರಣ, ಫೆ.28ರಿಂದ ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 4ರವರೆಗೆ ಚೆಕ್ಲಿಸ್ಟ್ ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ, ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 5ರಿಂದ 9ರವರೆಗೆ ಸಾಫ್ಟ್ವೇರ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮ್ಯಾಟ್ರಿಕ್ಸ್ ಅಳವಡಿಕೆ, ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 12ರಿಂದ 16ರವರೆಗೆ ಇ–ರೋಲ್ ಮುದ್ರಣ, ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 17ರಿಂದ 29ರವರೆಗೆ ಅಂತಿಮ ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಮುದ್ರಕರಿಂದ ಪಡೆಯುವುದು, ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 30ರಂದು ಅಂತಿಮ ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸುವುದು.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು: ಜಿಬಿಎ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯ ಐದು ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮತದಾನಕ್ಕೆ ವಿದ್ಯುನ್ಮಾನ ಮತ ಯಂತ್ರದ (ಇವಿಎಂ) ಬದಲು ಮತ ಪತ್ರ (ಬ್ಯಾಲಟ್ ಪೇಪರ್) ಬಳಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ರಾಜ್ಯ ಚುನಾವಣಾ ಆಯೋಗದ ಆಯುಕ್ತ ಜಿ.ಎಸ್ ಸಂಗ್ರೇಶಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯ ಮತದಾರರ ಕರಡು ಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಸೋಮವಾರ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅವರು, ಗ್ರೇಟರ್ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಆಡಳಿತ ಕಾಯ್ದೆಯಲ್ಲಿ (ಜಿಬಿಜಿಎ) ಇರುವ ನಿಯಮಗಳಂತೆ ಇವಿಎಂ ಅಥವಾ ಮತ ಪತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಚುನಾವಣೆ ನಡೆಸಬಹುದಾಗಿದೆ. ಆ ಅಧಿಕಾರವನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿ ಮತ ಪತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಐದೂ ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳ ಚುನಾವಣೆ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದರು.
‘ರಾಜ್ಯ ಚುನಾವಣಾ ಆಯೋಗ ಸ್ವಾಯತ್ತ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಯಾರ ಅಧೀನಕ್ಕೂ ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಕಾಯ್ದೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವಂತೆ ಮತ ಪತ್ರ ಬಳಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಯಾವ ಸೂಚನೆಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಇದು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಚುನಾವಣಾ ಆಯೋಗದ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ’ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಸುದ್ದಿಗಾರರ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಿಸಿದರು.
ಜಿಇಎ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯ ಐದು ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೇ 25ರ ನಂತರ ಜೂನ್ 30ರೊಳಗೆ ಚುನಾವಣೆ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದು ರಾಜ್ಯ ಚುನಾವಣಾ ಆಯೋಗದ ಆಯುಕ್ತ ಜಿ.ಎಸ್. ಸಂಗ್ರೇಶಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಐದು ನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆಗಳ 369 ವಾರ್ಡ್ಗಳ ಮತದಾರರ ಕರಡು ಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಮಂಗಳವಾರ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅವರು, ‘ಸುಪ್ರೀಂ ಕೋರ್ಟ್ ಆದೇಶದಂತೆ 2026ರ ಜೂನ್ 30ರೊಳಗೆ ಚುನಾವಣೆ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಮುಗಿಯಲಿದೆ’ ಎಂದರು.
‘ಮತದಾರರ ಕರಡು ಪಟ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೆಸರಿದೆಯೇ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು, ಹೆಸರಿಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ ಕೂಡಲೇ ನಮೂನೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಅರ್ಜಿ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಅವಕಾಶವಿದೆ. 18 ವರ್ಷ ತುಂಬಿದ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಮತದಾರರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಯಾಗಬಹುದು’ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
2025ರ ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 1ರ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯಂತೆ ಮತದಾರ ಕರಡು ಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ತಯಾರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಜ.20ರಿಂದ ಫೆಬ್ರುವರಿ 3ರವರೆಗೆ ಮತಗಟ್ಟೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು (ಬಿಎಲ್ಒ) ಮನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿ ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ ನಡೆಸಲಿದ್ದು, ಈ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಕ್ಕು ಹಾಗೂ ಆಕ್ಷೇಪಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲು ಅವಕಾಶ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಹಕ್ಕು ಹಾಗೂ ಆಕ್ಷೇಪಣೆಗಳ ವಿಲೇವಾರಿಯು ಫೆ.4ರಿಂದ 18ರವರೆಗೆ ನಡೆಯಲಿದ್ದು, ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 16ರಂದು ಮತದಾರರ ಅಂತಿಮ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ’ ಎಂದು ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದರು.
