Minister instructs not to plant CONOCARPUS saplings



 Bengaluru: Forest Minister Ishwara Khandre has directed not to plant of Conocarpus saplings, which spoil the rain environment and adversely affect the health of citizens, in any part of the state, including Bengaluru.

 Referring to a special report on 'Dubai plant' - a health hazard - published in Prajavani on June 5, a copy of which is attached with a note dated July 1, the minister said conocarpus saplings have been banned in some states of the country.  

There is information that it emits acid which is harmful to human health.  The Chief Principal Conservator of Forests has instructed him to conduct an immediate inquiry into the matter and if scientifically ill effects are found, action should be taken not to plant Conocarpus saplings in all parts of the state.
