Jayanagar: A record victory by a narrow margin

Vote from home – postal votes hold BJP; 16 votes win to C.K. Ramamurthy

Kere Manjunath ಕೆರೆ ಮಂಜುನಾಥ್

Bengaluru: BJP has won the prestigious Jayanagar assembly constituency by a margin of 16 votes. This is the smallest margin of victory in Bengaluru City district since redistricting, setting a record.

Congress's Dinesh Gundurao won by a margin of 105 votes in Gandhinagar assembly constituency, which was the smallest margin recorded. But by midnight on Saturday, that record was shared by BJP from Jayanagar assembly constituency.

The counting of votes for Jayanagar Assembly Constituency was held at SSMRV PU College, Jayanagar. When the counting of the voting machines was over, Soumya Reddy of the Congress had got 57,591 votes. BJP's C.K. Ramamurthy got 57,297 votes. When the Congress was leading by 294 votes, the BJP resorted to a recount of postal votes.

The counting of postal ballots which includes 'votes from home' was already over. About 30 votes were rejected out of them. Agents of BJP requested the election watchers to look into this. MP Tejaswi Surya also came to the place. On this occasion, Congress leader Ramalingareddy was also there and insisted that the rejected votes should not be reconsidered or recounted.

There were a total of 750 postal votes. There were also votes cast from home. Out of that 30 votes were rejected during counting because the official did not seal them. This is the fault of the officials, not the voters. As a rule these were urged to be checked. The officials took action accordingly, said Somashekar, BJP candidate's agent.

When the rejected votes are counted as normal, the BJP has a lead of 17 votes. Congress candidate Soumya Reddy alleged that one of those votes was rigged. It was thrown out. In the end, BJP's C.K. Ramamurthy was leading by 16 votes. As the results were announced, Ramalingareddy demanded that the Congress candidate, who was ahead by the old 160 votes, be declared the winner. D.K. Shivakumar, MP D.K. Suresh, BJP's R. As Ashoka and MP Tejashwi Surya arrived at the venue, a tense atmosphere was created.

This farce started from 3.30 pm on Saturday and continued till midnight. District Election Officer Tushar Girinath came to the place and reviewed the process of recounting of votes held three times. After proving that everything was in order, the Election Officer declared BJP's Ramamurthy won by 16 votes and distributed the certificate.

Finally, out of 750 votes, 500 votes went to the BJP and 190 votes to the Congress. The rest was distributed among other parties. Thus, in the end Ramamurthy got 57,797 votes including EVM votes, while Soumya Reddy got 57,781 votes. BJP won by the narrowest margin.

 BJP gained again:

BJP's Vijayakumar, who had lost against Ramalingareddy twice in Jayanagar assembly constituency, had won twice in Jayanagar since 2008 after the constituency was redistributed. After his death in 2018, Ramalinga Reddy's daughter Soumya Reddy won with JDS alliance. This time BJP tried to regain this constituency. The narrowest margin of victory was recorded in a hotly contested field. Along with this, BBMP's former corporator C.K. Ramamurthy has entered the Legislative Assembly for the first time.

 Everything as a rule:

Ramalingareddy first came inside the room of the counting center and shouted. Officials recorded the recount of each vote, BJP's C.K. Ramamurthy said.

Bengaluru: No change allowed; Thanks to personal charisma

A far-reaching victory for some; A hard-fought victory for most

Kere Manjunath ಕೆರೆ ಮಂಜುನಾಥ್

Bengaluru: The voters of the capital, who have continued the process of sticking to the ideology of personal charisma and parties, have once again fallen for the same party and individuals. In this regard, BJP has increased by one from the last year tally, while Congress maintained the status quo in the number of seats. JDS lost even one seat and became zero.

Barring a couple of the city's 28 assembly constituencies, the victory was not easy for those who had won a hat-trick to those who were back in the fray. Although hundreds of crores of development works are ahead, the voters have not easily laid the victory wreath. There was a lot of anxiety in the house before finally winning and laughing in a stubborn fight. The Prime Minister's long rally and AICC leaders' rallies have not influenced the voters.

Capital Bangalore is a prestige district for Congress and BJP. National parties are fighting hard here every time. The parties who trusted personal influence retained their seats by giving tickets to such persons again.

The anti-incumbency of the BJP government and the pro-Congress wave have not had such an impact on the voters of Bengaluru. Person Prabhava got a chance here again and the sitting MLAs of Congress and BJP won. Victory is not so easy for them. However, he got enough votes to register victory.

Ramalingareddy of Congress, Krishna Byregowda, K.J. George, Dinesh Gundurao, M. Krishnappa, Jameer Ahmed Khan, Bairati Suresh continued their winning streak. Similarly, BJP's R. Ashoka, Suresh Kumar, Ashwatthanarayan, Raghu, Ravi Subramanya, Satish Reddy, S.R. Vishwanath, S.T. Somashekhar, M. There is no obstacle to Krishnappa's victory.

Akhand Srinivasamurthy, who wanted Congress ticket in Pulakeshinagar, contested from BSP. However, the Congress has fielded Srinivas and has proved that this is the constituency of the Congress by winning hugely. Here the candidate has changed and Congress has retained the constituency.

In Mahadevpur, the BJP fielded Arvind Limbavali's wife Manjula instead of him. Congress H. Even if Nagesh was brought here and stopped, BJP's supremacy was not taken away. Thus, even though the person changed, the BJP won the constituency.

In Govindarajanagar V. Somanna was replaced by former corporator Umesh Shetty from BJP. Umesh Shetty was not a rival to Congress's Priyakrishna, who worried Somanna too. Father-son (Krishnappa-Priyakrishna) who were ready to defeat Somanna got a victory garland.

The BJP, which had lost the Dasarahalli constituency last time, had tried its best to win this time. This time BJP's S. Muniraju was a strong contender. Muniraju, who had won twice in this constituency, has succeeded in winning again this time.

JDS 'Nil'

JDS, the 'Soil Children's Party', which is making a huge effort to maintain its presence in Bengaluru city, has not won a single constituency this time. Earlier, Chamarajpet was under the wing of Jamir Ahmed Khan when he was in JDS. In Pulakeshinagar, Akhand Srinivasa Murthy also won from JDS. K. Gopalaya had given victory to JDS in Mahalakshmi layout. After Jamir, Akhand and Gopalaya left the party, those constituencies were abandoned by JDS. Last time, BJP's S. R from JDS after defeating Muniraju. Manjunath had won. But this time that too has been abandoned.

Apart from Dasarahalli, JDS is eyeing Yeshavantpur. Again, Javarai Gowda, who had lost three times, was fielded to win over the Okkaliga community. HD Both Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy campaigned vociferously. However, Jayarai Gowda could not win again due to the stigma of 'Bhoomafia'. Now, the dream of winning votes between two Brahmins in Basavanagudi is dashed. The JD(S) failed in the capital Bengaluru without any victory.

A defeat for ex-corporators

Apart from.C.K. Ramamurthy the hope of former BBMP corporators to reach the assembly remained a dream. Six former corporators from the BJP and two from the Congress were in the fray for the assembly elections.

Padmanabhareddy (Sarvajnanagar) from BJP, H. Rabindra (Vijaynagar), N. Chandra (Shivajinagar), Sivakumar (Shantinagar), Umesh Shetty (Govindarajanagar) and Anandkumar (C.V. Ramannagar), Kesavamurthy (Mahalakshmi Layout) contested from Congress.

Corporators View from BBMP to Assembly...

Eight former members of the Greater Bengaluru Mahanagara Corporation are in the fray for the Legislative Assembly elections and are eyeing seats in the Legislative Assembly.

Before the MLA elections, the corporation elections will be a forerunner, and based on the victory and experience here, they are contesting the assembly elections.

Padmanabhareddy, who has been the leader of the opposition and opposition party since 1997 as the Kacharakanahalli ward corporator, joined the BJP from the JDS when Bangalore was a city corporation. He is the BJP candidate for the second time in the Sarvajnanagar Assembly Constituency.

H. Ravindra also joined the BJP from the Congress as a senior member of the corporation. He was a corporator in Vijayanagara and was the leader of the ruling party and the opposition party. Now he is testing his luck in the assembly arena for the third time. He contested from Vijayanagar and Govindarajanagar assembly constituencies from BJP. This time he is a BJP candidate in Vijayanagar assembly constituency. Both Padmanabhareddy and Ravindra had tried hard to become mayor earlier.

C.K. Ramamurthy was the Ward Corporator of Pattabhiramanagar. Ramamurthy, who has the experience of conducting elections for Vijayakumar, who was an MLA, is now a BJP candidate in the same Jayanagar constituency. Umesh Shetty, who was the Govindarajanagar ward corporator, was an aspirant for the Vijayanagar assembly constituency. Due to the changed political situation V. Somanna is replaced by BJP candidate in Govindarajanagar constituency.

Keshavamurthy of Congress held many posts as a corporator. He wanted to contest in Rajajinagar constituency and Congress party has fielded him in Mahalakshmi layout constituency. Congress's Anand Kumar and BJP's Shivakumar, who were corporators, have tested their luck in the assembly constituencies under their own wards. N. who was corporate from Congress. Chandra is a candidate for assembly elections from BJP.

Earlier, Ramalingareddy, S. Suresh Kumar, K. Gopalaya, Munirathna, Bairati Basavaraju were also members of the corporation. It is noteworthy that in the later days all of them contested the assembly elections and became ministers as MLAs.

Congress-BJP: ‘hat-trick’ battle of heroes

Bengaluru South Survey: The leverage of personal charisma for re-election

Kere Manjunath ಕೆರೆ ಮಂಜುನಾಥ್‌

Bengaluru: The 'development achievement' of the person who won in Bengaluru South district, where the personal charisma of the candidates is more important than the ideology of the parties, is here. That's why there are more hat-trick heroes here. Seven of the 11 constituencies of this range have won three times in a row and are all set to enter the assembly for the fourth time. They are fighting to re-establish their winning streak in the other four constituencies.

Ramalingareddy of Congress, M. Krishnappa, BJP's R. Ashoka, Ravi Subramanya, Satish Reddy, M.Krishnappa, Munirathna have won a hat-trick and are back in the field in their respective fields. Significantly, new faces have come into the fray to compete with them.

In Bengaluru city party support is one weight, personal charisma is another weight. At one point the personal charisma and association with the voters of the constituency is capital for some candidates of Congress or BJP. Thus, they have been able to consistently show their winning smile.

No matter which party comes to power, Bengaluru has a tradition of four MLAs becoming ministers. Apart from the development of the capital, MLAs also hold important portfolios. That's why there are so many hearts yearning for victory here. However, it is equally true that people have never accepted those who do not develop charisma and do not get people.

BJP has been winning in Bengaluru South Lok Sabha constituency since Ananthkumar's time. M. Krishnappa of Congress, B.K. Hariprasad also did not see victory here. However, the picture of assembly constituencies here is different.

Ramalingareddy has won thrice from Congress in BTM layout. He had won four times from Jayanagar before that and the constituency and voters are well known to him. BJP and JDS are changing the candidate here every time. This has led to a stronghold for the Congress. In Vijayanagar, M. Krishnappa has built the stronghold of Congress. One time friend V. Somanna was also married to Krishnappa. Last time, H from BJP. Ravindra lost by a narrow margin. This time too, Ravindra is the opponent of Krishnappa and there is fierce competition.

BJP's R. Ashoka in Padmanabhanagar and also this time in Kanakapura, contested against Congress President D.K. Shivakumar is eager to retain Padmanabhanagar as well. Ashoka, who had won three times in a huge constituency like Uttarahalli, also won three times in Padmanabhanagar and achieved a 'double hat trick'. Raghunath Reddy from the Congress is in the fray to enter the Legislative Assembly once again. The fact that Shivakumar himself has claimed to be the candidate here has led to more competition.

Ravisubramanya in Basavanagudi, Satish Reddy in Bommanahalli, M. in Bangalore South. Krishnappa has won thrice from BJP. Ravi Subramanya, Satish Reddy, M. Even Krishnappa's opponents are changing every time. In all the three constituencies, the JD(S) was gaining votes, even though the Congress was putting up a lot of resistance. This time too Congress is the main opponent in these constituencies. Candidates are trying to wrest the seat from BJP. Basavanagudi U.B. Venkatesh, Bommanahalli film producer Umapathy Gowda, Bangalore South RK. Ramesh is contesting from Congress. R.K. Ramesh's problem is the rebel candidate Rajagopal Reddy. JD(S) is eager to get more votes and surprise as usual.

In Govindarajanagara BJP's Umesh Shetty is relying on V.Somanna Nambala. Priyakrishna of Congress is eager to win the constituency again this time. For this, his father, the party's constituency candidate M. Krishnappa is the backbone. The fact that Somanna, who had a good hold in the constituency, is busy coming here and campaigning, it seems that the Congress has gained more strength.

Muniratna Rajarajeshwari is the BJP candidate in the Nagar constituency, which has always been in controversy due to the voter ID card dispute and the election itself was delayed and unnecessary development. Muniratna, who has won twice from Congress and once from BJP, Congress MP D.K. Suresh stands as a backbone for the candidate Kusuma. In 2019, Kusuma was the rival of Muniratna, who had left the Congress and contested from the BJP. This time Being with D.K. Suresh has increased the competition.

BJP's Uday Garudachar and Congress' R.V. want to win the Chikkapet assembly constituency for the second time. Devraj is fighting again. In 2013 R.V. If Devaraj had won, Uday Garudachar would have won in 2018. Both are contestants for the third time and there is fierce competition. The fact that KGF Babu, who wanted to contest from the Congress, is in the fray as an independent, there are signs that Devaraj will attract votes.

In Jayanagar, BJP and Congress are again in competition to regain the seat. BJP, which had won the seat twice, lost to Soumya Reddy of Congress last time after the death of Vijayakumar. Activists saying that BJP lost because father Ramalingareddy-daughter Soumya Reddy and JDS were united, C.K. He is with Ramamurthy and is eager to take the seat again under the BJP wing.

There are different calculations of Congress and BJP in a total 11 constituencies, focusing on individual charisma, party ideology and local issues. There are 7 BJP and 4 Congress MLAs out of 11, and both the national parties are eager to retain them and win more.
