Bengaluru: Although a comprehensive solution to the problem of traffic congestion at the city's junctions is yet to be found, the beautification of those junctions has begun. 25 junctions will be equipped with stone pavements, electric lights and fountains.

The map of the junctions, which were boring with dust, garbage, broken stone and fence, will change. Apart from enjoying the beauty of the junctions, there will also be an opportunity to relax for a while in the beauty of the fountain.

The junctions will be beautified and the citizens will be able to relax. Along with wide stone beds, stone chairs are also built here and there. Plants and trees are being preserved and beautified. Also fountains are being created at 23 out of 25 junctions. It provides a pleasant atmosphere to the people and prevents air pollution to a small extent.

Such improvement and development works have been undertaken by the Traffic Engineering Unit (TEC) of BBMP. The development of these junctions will cost ₹23.80 crore. The work of all the junctions is going on and everything will be completed in 10 months. Some of the junctions will soon be available for use by citizens.

The development work in the Townhall, Maurya Circle off Seshadri Road, Hudson Circle, N.R.square is already almost complete.

A lot of development has been carried out using the space between Town Hall and Ravindra Kalakshetra. It is in the final stage. The development of these junctions is different from past, where citizens can avail all kinds of facilities. It is not fenced. Gate will not be installed. There is no single entry and single exit. Designed to have entry and exit from everywhere. In the same way, all the junctions in the city are being built according to the location,' said executive Engineer Jayasimha, of the TEC department.

The development work of the junctions is going on and the maintenance for two years after its completion has been entrusted to the respective contractors. A staff member is appointed for each junction management, said Pradeep of TEC department.

75 junctions have not been approved!

Although the 'Suraksha 75 Mission 2023' project to develop fountains at 75 junctions to make the city's junctions safe for pedestrians and control air pollution, has not received permission from the government. Then Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai launched the project. It was also proposed in the BBMP budget. The project needs to get permission from the government. After that, the tender should be called and the work should start. Zone-wise junctions have already been identified for the project at a cost of ₹150 crore, the highest number of which is 13 in the eastern zone, followed by 12 each in Mahadevpur-south zone and 11 in the eastern zone.
