ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಕರಗ... ವಿಶ್ವ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಕರಗ ಯಾರಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ ಹೇಳಿ. ಶತಮಾನಗಳ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಈ ಕರಗಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಟಿಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ,  ಕಾಲದಿಂದ ಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಕರಗದ ಆಚರಣಾ ತಾಣಗಳು ಕರಗುತ್ತಲೇ ಬರುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ, ಶಕ್ತಿದೇವತೆ ದ್ರೌಪದಿಯನ್ನು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸುವ ಜಲಮೂಲಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವವನ್ನೇ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿರುವುದು ದುರಂತ.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಕರಗಕ್ಕೂ ಜಲಮೂಲಗಳಿಗೂ ಅವಿನಾಭಾವ ಸಂಬಂಧ. ಕರಗ ಆರಂಭವಾಗಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಪೂಜೆ ಆಗಬೇಕಿರುವುದೇ ಕೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ. ಹೂವಿನ ಕರಗದ ಹಿಂದಿನ 8 ದಿನಗಳು ನಗರದ ಎಂಟು ದಿಕ್ಕುಗಳಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕೆರೆ–ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಥಮಪೂಜೆಯಾಗುವ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯವಿದೆ. ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ತೀರ್ಥ ಸ್ನಾನಘಟ್ಟಗಳು ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ, ಇಂದು  ಸ್ನಾನಘಟ್ಟಗಳೇ ಇಲ್ಲದಂತಾಗಿವೆ.

ಧರ್ಮರಾಯ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಈಶಾನ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಇರುವುದೇ ಸಂಪಂಗಿ ಕೆರೆ ಅಥವಾ ಸಂಪಂಗಿ ಟ್ಯಾಂಕ್‌. ಇದು ಕರಗದ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠ. ಶಕ್ತಿದೇವತೆ ದ್ರೌಪದಿಯನ್ನು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಿ, ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆತರುವುದೇ ಈ ಕೆರೆಯಿಂದ. ಹಸಿ ಕರಗದ ಹುಟ್ಟು ಸಂಪಂಗಿ ಟ್ಯಾಂಕ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠದಲ್ಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ವಿಶಾಲವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಈ ಸಂಪಂಗಿ ಟ್ಯಾಂಕ್‌ ಇಂದು ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಿಯೂ ಅಲ್ಲದ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಬಹುಶಃ, ಸಾವಿರ ಕೆರೆಗಳ ನಗರಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆರೆಗಳ ಅವನತಿ ಎಂಬುದು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗಿದ್ದು ಈ ಕೆರೆಯಿಂದಲೇ ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಆಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ, ಅವರು ಆಟವಾಡಲು ಮೊದಲು ಮಣ್ಣು ಸುರಿದಿದ್ದೇ ಈ ಸಂಪಂಗಿ ಟ್ಯಾಂಕ್‌ಗೆ. ವಿಶಾಲವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಸಂಪಂಗಿ ಟ್ಯಾಂಕ್‌ ಅಂದಿನಿಂದಲೇ ತನ್ನ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಸಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಕಂಠೀರವ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಂಗಣವಾಗುವ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಕರಗದ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠವಾಗಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಉಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿದೆ.

ಕರಗದ ಇನ್ನುಳಿದ ಸ್ಥಾನಘಟ್ಟಗಳೆಂದರೆ; ಲಾಲ್‌ಬಾಗ್‌ ಸಮೀಪವಿರುವ ಮುನೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಿ, ಕಲಾಸಿಪಾಳ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮರಿಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಮಠದ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಿ, ಮೆಜೆಸ್ಟಿಕ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅಂದಿನ ಧರ್ಮಾಂಬುಧಿ ತೀರದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ನಗರ ದೇವತೆ ಅಣ್ಣಮ್ಮ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬಾವಿ. ಕಬ್ಬನ್‌ ಪಾರ್ಕ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕರಗದ ಕುಂಟೆ ಅಥವಾ ಉಪ್ಪು ನೀರಿನ ಕುಂಟೆ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಕರಗದ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಪೂಜಾವಿಧಾನಗಳಿಗೆ ಇಂದಿಗೂ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಗವಿಪುರ ಗುಟ್ಟಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಜಲಕಂಠೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಿ, ಬಿಬಿಎಂಪಿ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಕಚೇರಿಯಿರುವ ಏಳುಸುತ್ತಿನ ಕೋಟೆ.

ನೋಡಿದ್ರಲ್ಲಾ, ಕೇಳಿದ್ರಲ್ಲಾ ಇವರ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಕರಗಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾರುಹೋಗದವರೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಇದು ನಗರವೊಂದರ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠೆ. ಒಗ್ಗೂಡುವಿಕೆ. ಒಗ್ಗಟ್ಟು. ಆದರೆ, ಇಂತಹ ಕರಗದ ಮೂಲ ತಾಣಗಳನ್ನೇ ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಿಲಿಕಾನ್‌ಸಿಟಿ ವಿಫಲವಾಗಿದೆ.

ಕರಗ ಮತ್ತು ಅಣ್ಣಮ್ಮ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ನಗರದ ಕಳಸಪ್ರಾಯ. ಒಬ್ಬರು ಶಕ್ತಿ ದೇವತೆ, ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬಳು ನಗರದೇವತೆ. ಈ ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ಇದ್ದದ್ದು ಕೆರೆಗಳ ದಡದ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ. ಒಂದು ಧರ್ಮಾಂಬುಧಿ ಕೆರೆ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಸಂಪಂಗಿ ಟ್ಯಾಂಕ್‌. ಈ ಎರಡೂ ಕೆರೆಗಳು ಇಂದು ಇಲ್ಲ.  ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಳಿದು ಉಳಿದಿರುವುದನ್ನೂ ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ನಾವು ಚಿತ್ರಪಟದಲ್ಲೇ ತೋರಿಸಬೇಕಾದೀತು... ಹಾಗಾಗಬಾರದು ಅಲ್ಲವೇ? ಇರುವುದನ್ನಾದರೂ ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳೋಣ.

Bangalore is inextricably linked with water sources. The first pooja must be done in the lake for the melting to begin. There is a tradition of offering first pooja to Kere-Kalyanis located in the eight directions of the city 8 days before the flowers melt. These are called Tirtha Sannaghattas. However, today there are no bathhouses.

Sampangi lake or Sampangi tank is situated to the northeast of Dharmaraya temple. It is an insoluble Shaktipeeth. It is from this lake that Draupadi, the goddess of power, is invited and brought to the temple. The raw unmelted origin takes place in the Shaktipeeth in the Sampangi tank. This Sampangi tank, which was vast, is now in a condition that is not even Kalyani. Perhaps, the decline of lakes in Bangalore, the city of a thousand lakes, seems to have started from this lake. When the British were ruling us, they first poured mud into this Sampangi tank to play with. The vast Sampangi tank was losing its scope since then. By the time it finally became Kantheerava Stadium, it remained only as an insoluble Shaktipeeth.

Other statuses that do not dissolve are; Kalyani of Muneswara Temple near Lalbagh, Kalyani of Mariswami Mutt at Kalasipalya, well at Annamma Temple, the city goddess on the banks of the then Dharmambudhi at Majestic. Karagada Kunte or salt water rake at Cubbon Park is a witness to the first religious rituals of Bengaluru Karaga. Kalyani at Jalkantheshwara temple in Gavipura Guttahalli, Yechusuthina fort where BBMP headquarters is located.

Karaga and Annamma Kalasapraya of Bangalore city. One is Shakti Goddess, the other is City Goddess. Both of them were on the banks of lakes. One is Dharmambudhi Lake and the other is Sampangi Tank.
